Overview

Per an email dated April 16 2019 from Patty Smith (City Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer) for the City of Amboy, "working with our Planning Commission, my understanding is that all builders are required by MN to follow the MN Building code guidelines; so as a city of our size, we did not need to adopt the MN Building Code." If a builder is not following guidelines, they (Planning Commission) can request the city council to have a building inspector come in and do an inspection.

The City of Amboy Zoning Ordinance, Amer. Leg.Pub. § 150.21 (Zoning Permits) should be examined carefully. Besides Subsection 150.21 (C)(4) which contains language which mandates adherence to building code requirements for any building deemed for public occupancy, other parts of this section pertain to obtaining permits for altering certain areas of a residential home; please see §150.21 (C).
